General Manager-The Loneliness Lab. (Closed)

About the Loneliness Lab:

The Loneliness Lab (working title) is a ground-breaking new initiative established with the goal of tackling the societal issue of loneliness across all ages and demographics in Ireland. It seeks to increase awareness of loneliness as a major societal issue and bring it into the political arena. We are now seeking to hire a dynamic, highly motivated self-starter to lead and grow this innovative initiative from the ground up, making it a leading voice in tackling loneliness in Ireland.

The successful candidate will be:

An experienced, dynamic, innovative leader with a demonstrable record in achieving positive social change and organisational growth. They will be self-motivated and a strong effective, and experienced communicator. They will stand apart from others by having a driving passion to make Ireland a world leader in identifying and tackling loneliness as a major societal issue.

Location: Dublin 4

Role Responsibilities: 

  • Establishing and growing  the Loneliness Lab to become a leading initiative in tackling loneliness in Ireland.

  • Advocating on behalf of the Loneliness Lab to ensure that greater awareness is created around the need to tackle loneliness across all demographics and ensuring that tackling loneliness becomes and remains a politically significant issue.

  • Developing and researching evidence-based solutions to influence and shape the policy agenda on loneliness in Ireland.

  • Developing and delivering on the Loneliness Lab’s policy and communications work.

  • Advancing our mission by building and managing relationships with key stakeholders including existing non-profits supporting this issue, academic researchers, subject matter experts, other public health experts, the media, public servants, Government, and statutory bodies.

  • Directing and managing all communications and advocacy relating to the work of the Loneliness Lab.

Essential Criteria:  

  • Third level degree (NFQ8 minimum)

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a communications and/or an advocacy role.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience  drafting and writing for a variety of audiences and a proven ability to produce high-quality work to tight deadlines. 

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, including experience of project management and strong computer literacy skills.

  • Experience of social media content creation and traditional media engagement.

  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and management.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative as well as realign priorities, when needed, to respond to a demanding an evolving work programme.

  • Permission to work in Ireland.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of developing an initiative from the ground up.

  • Experience in managing project and operational budgets.

  • Professional experience working on issues relating to loneliness.
