Our Advisory Group provides strategic guidance to the activities of the One Foundation, and selects our charitable investments.
The Group Includes:
Declan Ryan (Chair)
Declan Ryan runs a private investment company called Irelandia Investments, which recently set up new low cost airlines in Asia (Tiger Airways) and Mexico (Viva Aerobus).
Declan was a director of Ryanair for 18 years from 1986 to 2004. He has held several senior management positions within Ryanair, and fulfilled the role of CEO.
Deirdre Mortell
Deirdre worked in senior fundraising and communications roles within the Irish NGO sector from 1993 - 2003. She has worked with Barnardos Ireland, Oxfam Ireland and served as Chair of the Irish Charities Tax Reform Group.
Deirdre has a degree in business from University College Cork and a Masters Degree in Women’s Studies from Trinity College Dublin.
John R. Healy
John R Healy is Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Non-profit Managment in the School of Business in Trinity College Dublin. From 2001-2007, John was CEO and President of Atlantic Philanthropies. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of Tara Consultants Ltd., (now Atlantic Philanthropies – Ireland), and Senior Vice President, International Programmes at Atlantic Philanthropies.
The founding CEO of The Irish American Partnership, (an organisation which seeks support from Americans of Irish ancestry for educational, reconciliation and economic developments projects in Ireland), John also spent 4 years as Assistant Chief Executive of the Irish Trade Board.
John is a founder of the Irish Landmark Trust and served on its Board from 1992 – 2001. He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and holds a B.A in History and Political Science.
Eoin McKeagney
Eoin has been involved in the property and financial services industries since 1994. Working in London and Dublin, he has fulfilled senior positions in a number of large organisations. In 2000, he established a successful pension and investment consultancy business based in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland. Later, in 2007, he merged the insurance element of this business with another company, where he continues to work in an advisory capacity.
Looking ahead, Eoin will concentrate on advising clients in Wealth Management, with a particular focus on tax-efficient property investment. He is also involved as an investor and adviser in a start-up business in the mobile phone sector. Eoin is a fellow of the Life Assurance Association and is currently an undergraduate in Bachelor of Financial Services at UCD.
Melanie Verwoerd
Melanie is Director of UNICEF Ireland. A former South African Ambassador to Ireland, Melanie joined the ANC after the release of Nelson Mandela. In 1994, Melanie was elected as ANC Member of Parliament, and became the youngest ever female MP. Melanie moved to Ireland in 2001, and now works for the Mandela Rhodes Foundation, runs a wine import business (Drinking Wines), and is an accomplished public speaker.
Melanie has a degree in Philosophy and a Masters degree in Feminist Theology.
Gareth Morgan
Gareth is a Director at Google, based in Dublin and with global remit supporting Google's Advertisers. Previously, Gareth worked with international consultants McKinsey and Company for eight years where he advised clients on key strategic and operational matters, primarily in the High Tech, Media and Telecom industries.
Gareth is a FCA with the Institute of Chartered Accounts in Ireland and holds an MBA from University of Western Ontario, Canada.
