Our 2014 Goals

We are passionate about social change and we will dedicate substantial resources in the form of money, time and talent to generating momentum towards solving some of our serious social problems in Ireland and Vietnam. To guide our work, One Foundation has adopted four programmes with eight component goals. We will make financial and non-financial investments across these goals as required to achieve success by 2014.

Youth Mental Health Goals

  1. Improve young people’s wellbeing and resilience
    The wellbeing and resilience of young people is improved, evidenced by:
    1. Effective programmes and supports that strengthen it (both preventive and responsive) reach more young people
    2. Young people know about and access information on resilience and wellbeing
       
  2. Build political will on Mental Health
    Political will has been built evidenced by the emergence of political leadership, bringing about some implementation of “A Vision for Change”
     
     
     
  3. Improve mental health system outcomes for young people
    Clinical outcomes for young people using the Irish mental health system are better

 

Children and Families Goals

  1. Make children’s rights real
    Children's rights have been made more real by inclusion in the Constitution and are evident in a critical mass of communities in Ireland
    Separated kids are treated equally in the Irish care system
  2. Make effective family support programmes available nationally

 

Integration Goals

  1. Make multi-denominational education a real option in Ireland
    Multi-denominational education is a real option in Ireland evidenced by :
    1. Educate Together schools offer an integrated and intercultural environment which is taken-up by minority and other parents at primary level (at critical mass) and second level (pilot stage)
    2. Educate Together influences the development of multi-denominational schooling in Ireland
  2. Make immigrant rights real in Ireland
    Immigrant rights are protected in Ireland, evidenced by :
    1. Immigrant rights appear in legislation
    2. The immigration system is fair, transparent and accountable
    3. Immigrants have access to information about their rights, entitlements and services (specialist info providers now; mainstream by 2014)

 

Social Entrepreneurship Goals

  1. Continue to build the field of social entrepreneurship in Ireland and Vietnam
    1. Ireland – substantial evidence of outcomes
    2. Vietnam – early evidence of outcomes, more focus on outputs
